28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who, have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. ~ Romans 8:28

I would like to update you on whatís been happening in my life and how God has been working through me. I am currently in my second year at Kent State University, where I am majoring in education with a concentration in history. The past two years have been a huge growing experience for me, learning a lot not only academically, but spiritually as well. Throughout the past two years, I have actively been involved with Kent Stateís campus ministry the Dive, also known as Campus Crusade for Christ. This organization has been instrumental in helping me build a deeper relationship with Christ through small group Bible studies, discipleship, solid Biblical teaching, and conferences. The Dive has been a great source for me to learn about my relationship with God. Now I look forward to another amazing experience ahead.

This summer, I have the opportunity to learn and grow in my faith even more through a summer project in Virginia Beach, VA. I will be spending ten weeks on this project with other college students from the Great Lakes region who are also seeking spiritual growth, leadership, and ministry skills. During these weeks, I will have a job in the local community, with the hopes of building relationships with my co-workers and sharing the love of Christ with them. Virginia Beach is flooded with high school and college students during the summer and I will also have the chance to take the Good News of Godís love and forgiveness to them. I am really excited about everything that God is going to do this summer. His plan is always much better than what I could ever expect, so I am looking forward to being stretched this summer as I step out of my comfort zone and do things I have never done before.

In order for me to participate in this summer project, I need to raise $2890. If you feel that you can support me financially, you can make a tax deductible check out to Campus Crusade for Christ (for tax purposes, please do not put my name on the check) and return it to me by May 1st. Please do not feel obligated to support me financially. Prayer support is of equal value and accepted at any time. I would like to invite you to support me in prayer as I prepare for this summer. Prayer requests include:

  • That I will be willing to step out of the norm this summer and be open to what God has planned.
  • That the hearts of those in Virginia Beach would be open to the Gospel.
  • That God will prepare the hearts of my peers going also.
  • That God will provide the financial support needed.

Thank you for being involved in my life and supporting me as I continue to grow spiritually. If you have any questions that you would like to ask me, please feel free to call me at (301)801-3103, or email me at jcobbs@kent.edu. Thanks again for your prayers and support!

Sincerely,

Jaleshea Cobbs
